Watch: Beltre tries to face Venditte wearing backwards helmet
Facing Pat Venditte, the majors' lone switch-pitcher, can be awfully confusing for hitters who don't know what hand he'll throw with in their at-bat - as that poor switch-hitter in the minors can attest.
Adrian Beltre - who had only faced Venditte once before in his career - apparently thought he had the system beat Monday night when he attempted to face the Seattle Mariners hurler with his batting helmet on backwards. After everyone had a good laugh, the future Hall of Famer dug in to face Venditte - who threw with his right hand - in the right-handed batter's box, and laced a double to left field.
If Beltre wants to make this backwards helmet thing a habit he should really consider asking Larry Walker for a few tips.
