Athletics' Josh Phegley: Starting rehab assignment
Phegley (knee) will begin a rehab assignment Saturday and will DH at first, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis:
It remains unclear which minor league level he'll report to, but the club will likely take it slowly after Phegley underwent knee surgery less than two months ago. He'll be eligible to be activated off the 60-day DL at the beginning of September, but the 28-year-old will likely need to test out his knee with some games behind the plate in his rehab assignment to see if he's comfortable catching before rejoining the big league club.
