The Los Angeles Dodgers' rotation continues to struggle to stay healthy this season, as the club announced Tuesday it has placed starters Brett Anderson and Scott Kazmir on the 15-day disabled list.
Kenta Maeda, the Japanese pitcher who signed an "incentive-laden" eight-year deal with the Dodgers in the offseason after his physical exam discovered "irregularities," is now the only pitcher on the team to make all his starts this season.
Despite a delicate rotation, the Dodgers have somehow managed to claim first place in the NL West division, even without staff ace Clayton Kershaw, who's currently recovering from a herniated disc in his back.
In corresponding roster moves, the club recalled left-hander Luis Avilan, infielder Charlie Culberson, and right-handed pitcher Ross Stripling. Hurler Josh Fields was optioned to Triple-A.
