Yasiel Puig may not be an Olympic athlete - his sport isn't in the 2016 Games, after all - but he's still watching and pulling for his namesakes.
The Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder took some time out from his duties with Triple-A Oklahoma City to watch Puerto Rican tennis player Monica Puig defeat Germany's Angelique Kerber to deliver the territory's first-ever Olympic gold medal. Although Yasiel hails from nearby Cuba, he couldn't help but cheer for Monica and offer her congratulations via Twitter after her historic victory.
"Happy for @MonicaAce93," Puig tweeted. "She's the best #VivaPuig #GoldenPuig."
It makes sense, of course, since sticking together is what all Puigs must do.
