A-Rod's farewell spells end to classic 'shirtless shortstops' photo

In 1997, five incredibly promising shortstops graced the February issue of Sports Illustrated: Alex Gonzalez, Edgar Renteria, Rey Ordonez, Derek Jeter, and, of course, Alex Rodriguez.
Memorably, however, they did so without shirts on and a mandatory gold chain, for some reason:

But, after A-Rod's somber farewell Friday with the Yankees, the hilariously awkward photo now looks a little different today:

Ordonez and Gonzalez both retired in 2007, while Renteria and Jeter called it quits in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
