Mariners place Cishek on DL with hip labrum tear

The Seattle Mariners announced Thursday they've placed right-hander Steve Cishek, who was removed from the closer's role earlier this week, on the 15-day disabled list with a left hip labrum tear.
Cishek struggled mightily in July, blowing two saves while allowing at least one baserunner in seven of his 10 outings and raising his season ERA by nearly a full run. He was removed as the team's closer after allowing three runs Sunday in a blown save against the Chicago Cubs, then taking the loss in a non-save situation against Boston the following evening.
The tear isn't believed to be serious and the Mariners expect him back in a few weeks, reports MLB.com's Greg Johns.
The 30-year-old owns a 3.40 ERA and 62 strikeouts to go with 25 saves in 44 appearances this season.
Seattle selected the contract of right-hander Blake Parker from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move.
