Altherr to make his 2016 debut with Phillies
ATLANTA (AP) Phillies outfielder Aaron Altherr has been reinstated from the disabled list after missing Philadelphia's first 103 games with a broken left wrist.
Manager Pete Mackanin put Altherr in the lineup batting fifth and playing right field Thursday night against the Atlanta Braves.
The Phillies made room for Altherr on the 25-man roster by placing outfielder Peter Bourjos on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder sprain.
Before breaking his wrist in spring training, Altherr was projected to be one of Philadelphia's starting outfielders on opening day.
He hit .241 with five homers, 22 RBIs and six stolen bases in 39 games last year after making his major league debut last August.
