Report: D-Backs close to dealing Hudson

Daniel Hudson may be headed out of the desert sooner rather than later.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are reportedly nearing a deal to trade away the reliever, according to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert.

The former starter has struggled in his second full season out of the bullpen, posting a 6.08 ERA in 37 innings in 2016. Teams, however, may be enticed by Hudson's much better 2015, when he crafted a 3.86 ERA in 67 2/3 innings and recorded 9.4 strikeouts per nine innings.

Any team acquiring Hudson would be taking on some risk, as the 29-year-old has already undergone two Tommy John surgeries.

Though the team in question hasn't been identified as of yet, the New York Post's Joel Sherman reports the Mets can be ruled out as one of Hudson's possible destinations.
