Double-A brawls between Texas League teams are bigger.
The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, only got one inning out of their Sunday starter. Yohander Mendez was ejected after hitting Corpus Christi Hooks designated hitter Danry Vasquez with his first pitch of the second inning. The Hooks are the Double-A squad of the Houston Astros.
Vasquez immediately charged the mound as Mendez stood there. Even after being peeled out of the player pileup, Vasquez was still shouting at Mendez as police stood by on the field. In addition to Vasquez and Mendez, Corpus Christi's Ramon Laureano was also ejected.
