Red Sox's Rick Porcello: Cruises to ninth win Tuesday against Rays
Porcello (9-2) pitched six quality innings, allowing just one run on five hits while walking three and striking out eight in Tuesday's win against the Rays.
Analysis:
Porcello's eight strikeouts were his most since the last time he faced the Rays back on April 20. Tampa loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth, but only scored once -- with Porcello's third walk of the inning forcing in the run. The Boston right-hander, who had not walked more than two batters in any of his previous 19 starts, wiggled off the hook by getting Logan Forsythe to fly out and fanning the next two Rays' hitters. Porcello retired the last nine batters he faced en route to winning a team-best ninth game. His next start is Monday at home against the Rangers.
