Justin Upton picked the perfect moment to notch his first multi-homer game with the Detroit Tigers.
In the bottom of the 12th on Monday at Comerica Park, five innings after smoking his seventh homer of the season, the scuffling 28-year-old crushed an 85-mph changeup from Seattle Mariners reliever Vidal Nuno into the left-field seats, snapping the Tigers' three-game losing streak with his first walk-off homer since 2013.
"I'm seeing the ball a lot better," Upton said in his on-field interview after propelling his club to an 8-7 victory. "And I'm getting pitches to hit, and trying to lay off the bad ones, so it's working out for me."
