Baltimore Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday after undergoing a surgical procedure for a testicular injury suffered Monday against the Boston Red Sox.

The club said there was no timetable for Joseph's return, though he's expected to be sidelined for at least 15 days.

This season, Joseph's batting .182/.239/.212 with two doubles.

As a counter move, the Orioles have recalled catcher Francisco Pena from Triple-A Norfolk.
