Red Sox's Brock Holt: Takes grounders Monday
Holt (concussion) took grounders in the infield prior to Monday's game in Baltimore, the Providence Journal reports.
Analysis:
Holt, who began throwing and hit off a tee Sunday in Toronto, is now getting reps defensively. These are all signs he's nearing a return. Perhaps notable is that Holt's defensive work came in the infield, and not in the outfield. That could be seen as a sign the Red Sox have Holt, who had been the regular starter in left field, ticketed for a utility-infield role when he's ready to return. If he's removed from left field, Blake Swihart would likely become the starter out there.
