Pirates' David Freese: Slugs homer out of leadoff spot
Freese went 1-for-4 with his second homer of the year as the first baseman and leadoff hitter Wednesday against the Reds.
Analysis:
He was going to draw his first start of the year at first base (and in the leadoff spot) Tuesday, but the game was rained out, so he did so Wednesday instead. Freese has now appeared at first, second and third this year, and he should continue seeing semi-regular action as John Jaso's first-base platoon partner and Jung Ho Kang's third-base backup.
