Watch: Vin Scully gives history lesson on beards

Vin Scully has never worn a beard during his legendary broadcasting career. Maybe that's why they fascinate him so much.
Inspired by the presence of several bearded Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres players in Saturday's game, Scully decided to entertain viewers with a five-minute history lesson about facial hair that began at the dawn of time and included Alexander the Great, Abraham Lincoln, and an Egyptian queen.
Perhaps his most important anecdote about beards came at the very beginning of this lecture: Why, exactly, were beards first grown?
"Beards evolved ... because ladies liked them."
We're going to miss you, Vin.
