Michael Pineda will be more than happy to see the Tampa Bay Rays leave the Bronx.
The New York Yankees right-hander was shelled by Tampa Bay for five runs in a disastrous first inning on Sunday. Corey Dickerson got the party started with a two-run bomb to right field that left Pineda speechless.
After Brad Miller plated a third run with an RBI double, Pineda allowed his second two-run blast of the inning to birthday boy Steven Souza Jr.
Pineda gave up a third dinger two innings later - courtesy of Steve Pearce - and another to Souza Jr. in the fifth. The 27-year-old would leave after five innings having allowed seven runs on 10 hits, while striking out nine.
