 The Diamondbacks took two of three games from the Astros in Arizona from Aug. 4-6 but have not won a season series against Houston since 2012, the Astros' final season in the National League. The Diamondbacks are 4-8 at Minute Maid Park since Houston moved to the AL in 2013.

 Houston ranks second in the majors with a 2.84 ERA at home and allowed one run in all three games of its just-completed series with Texas. The franchise record for consecutive games allowing one run or fewer in the same season is four, most recently accomplished from May 9-13, 2018.

 Arizona enters the series having won two of three against the Angels in Anaheim and scored nine runs in both victories. The Diamondbacks are averaging 7.5 runs per game in road wins and 2.3 per game in road losses, and they lead the majors with 13 away games in which they've scored two runs or fewer.

 With his home run in Tuesday's game against Texas, George Springer became the first Astros player with seven consecutive seasons of 10 homers or more since Lance Berkman (11) from 2000-10. Springer's .413 career average against Arizona is the highest of any player with at least 100 plate appearances against the Diamondbacks.

 David Peralta went 6-for-12 in Arizona's series with the Angels and has homered in three of his last four road games. Peralta's .406 career average (13-for-34) at Minute Maid Park is his highest at any stadium (min. 25 PA).

 Zack Greinke, set to face the Diamondbacks in Friday's opener for the first time since being traded to Houston by Arizona in July 2019, is 8-0 with a 3.35 ERA over his last 13 home starts dating back to last season.

For debilitating stretches, the Astros (25-26) have struggled with runners in scoring position, a failure that was again at the forefront in Friday's 6-3 loss to the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks in the opener of a three-game interleague series.

Astros look for big hits as they face D-backs amid playoff run

HOUSTON (AP)  Jose Altuve drove in two, Kyle Tucker had a tiebreaking single and the Houston Astros beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 on Saturday night to get back to .500.
Altuve tied it at 2 in the sixth with an RBI double, and Tucker put Houston ahead with his single three batters later, chasing starter Luke Weaver (1-8). Tucker has driven in four in the last three games and has 41 RBIs this season.
