 Since the Cubs defeated the Indians in a thrilling 7-game World Series in 2016, these teams have met six times and each has won three times. Earlier this season on August 11-12, they played a two-game set in Cleveland, and the Cubs won both games, 7-1 and 7-2.

 The Indians have lost six straight games, their longest losing streak since July 2015. The last time Cleveland lost 7+ consecutive games was June of 2013 (8 straight). Cleveland starters are 0-5 with a 5.20 ERA during the streak, and have allowed 10 home runs, including eight in the last three games.

 The Cubs won 2-of-3 over the weekend in Milwaukee, highlighted by Alec Mills no-hitter on Sunday. Entering the 9th inning on Saturday night, the Cubs had gone 17 consecutive innings in the series without a run. Chicago got four in the ninth off Josh Hader to win Game 2 and then had the 12-0, no-hitter, drubbing on Sunday to win the series.

 Jose Ramirez had two hits in all three losses at Minnesota over the weekend. Prior to this series, the Indians had been 9-2 when Ramirez collected 2+ hits. This is the first time this season that Ramirez has had multiple hits in three straight games, but the 21st time he has done it since August of 2014.

 The Cubs won 2-of-3 at Milwaukee despite the top 3 batters in the lineup combining to go 4-for-40 (.100) with 0 runs scored and 15 K in the series. Friday it was Happ, Bryant, Rizzo; Saturday was Happ, Bryant, Contreras and Sunday was Happ, Rizzo, Contreras.

 Yu Darvish is 7-2 in nine starts, and teammate Kyle Hendricks had a decision in his first nine starts of the season before getting a no-decision on Saturday night in Milwaukee. They are the first pair of Cubs hurlers to each have 9+ consecutive starts with a decision to start a season since 1985 (Dick Ruthven & Rick Sutcliffe).

The Chicago Cubs will go for their fourth win in a row when they host the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday.
The Cubs (29-20) are coming off a 6-5 win in the series opener, when Cameron Maybin was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the ninth to force in the decisive run. Chicago improved to 3-0 this season against Cleveland as it looks for another two-game sweep.

CHICAGO (AP)  Javier Baez's RBI single in the 10th inning lifted the Chicago Cubs to their fourth straight win, 3-2 over the Cleveland Indians, on Wednesday night in a game that was briefly delayed when a drone entered Wrigley Field and landed on the outfield grass.
Automatic runner Ian Happ advanced to third when Kris Bryant greeted Phil Maton (2-2) with a groundball single to open the 10th.
