The Mets and Orioles haven't met since New York's 16-5 win on Aug. 15, 2018, snapping a four-game losing streak in the series. The Mets had three triples in that game, and their only other three-triple game in the last 25 years was an 8-3 win at Houston on July 26, 2009.

The Orioles, who ended a five-game losing streak Monday, are averaging 5.47 runs on the road and 3.95 runs at home. That drop-off in scoring from road to home of 1.52 is the fourth-largest decrease in MLB. The Mets, who enter this series riding a four-game skid, have the sixth-largest decline from road to home scoring at 1.15, averaging 4.84 runs on the road and 3.69 at home.

Hanser Alberto is batting .400 in 15 games away from Baltimore and .253 in 18 home games. That drop-off in batting average from road to home games of .147 is the largest decrease among AL batting qualifiers. He is 5-for-28 (.179) with a double in his last seven home games.

Jose Iglesias has five straight multi-hit games, the longest active streak in the majors. No Baltimore shortstop has had a longer such streak since J.J. Hardy had six straight multi-hit games from June 19-25, 2011.

The Mets are fourth in the majors in batting average at .264, but have MLB's third-worst batting average with runners in scoring position at .217. New York hasn't finished a season with a lower batting average with runners in scoring position since hitting .210 in 1981.

BALTIMORE (AP)  Michael Conforto set the tone with a two-run homer in the first inning, and the New York Mets followed his lead to a much-needed victory.
Conforto went 4 for 5 with a homer and five RBIs, Pete Alonso hit a lengthy solo shot and the Mets beat the Baltimore Orioles 9-4 Wednesday to snap a five-game losing streak.
