 The White Sox won the season series against Cleveland in 2019, 11-8. The 11 wins were the most by Chicago over Cleveland in a single season since 2012 (11-7).

 The Indians allowed just five runs in their season-opening series win against the Royals. Cleveland starting pitchers went 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA and had 30 strikeouts and just two walks in 19.0 innings.

 Leury Garcia hit .413 against Cleveland in 2019, including four 3+ hit games. The four three-hit games were the most by any player versus Cleveland in 2019, no other player had more than two such games.

 Jose Ramirez had a solid opening series versus Kansas City. Ramirez collected Cleveland's only two home runs of the season on Sunday, and he has five of the team's 11 RBI. Ramirez's 15 HR (5 in 2017, 5 in 2018 and 5 in 2019) against Chicago since 2017 are the most by any player against the White Sox.

 Dylan Cease had 14 starts as a rookie last season for the White Sox. In the first 11, Cease had a 6.75 ERA, a .281 opponent batting average and allowed at least one home run in each start. The final three starts of his rookie season were much better: 1.88 ERA, .226 OppBA and only one home run allowed.

 Aaron Civale had 10 starts in his rookie season in 2019. His last start of the season, at Chicago, was his only bad start of his rookie campaign (3.1 IP, 4 ER, 3 BB, 2 HR). In the first nine starts of his career, Civale threw at least 5.0 innings allowing 2 ER or fewer in every start and allowed only two home runs total.

The Chicago White Sox hope to have manager Rick Renteria back in the dugout on Tuesday when they play a traditional doubleheader against the host Cleveland Indians.
General manager Rick Hahn issued a statement prior to Monday's scheduled series opener, saying Renteria woke up with a "slight cough and nasal congestion" and would not manage in the contest as he awaited the results of precautionary testing.

Carlos Santana hit a three-run homer, Oscar Mercado had a two-run single and the Cleveland Indians beat the Chicago White Sox 5-3 to complete a doubleheader sweep on Tuesday night.
