 This will be the final series played this season between the two top teams in the AL Central. Cleveland has won nine of the 16 matchups so far, including winning each of the last two series. Minnesota currently leads Cleveland by 3.5 games in the Central, the smallest gap of any division leader in MLB.

 Minnesota has lost each of its last two series, dropping two of three games against both the Indians and the Nationals. The Twins have not lost three consecutive series at any point during this season.

Civale is also the first AL pitcher to throw at least five innings while allowing two or fewer earned runs in each of his first eight starts since Gary Peters did so in his first eight career starts for the White Sox in 1963.

CLEVELAND (AP)  Jason Kipnis found a silver lining under the dark clouds - and the rain.
After the opener of a three-game AL Central showdown series between Minnesota and Cleveland was washed out Friday night because of thunderstorms, Kipnis said playing a doubleheader on Saturday may benefit the Indians.
