 The Nationals snapped a four-game losing streak with a 9-4 victory over the Braves on Sunday. Washington is two and a half games clear of Chicago for the first NL Wild Card spot, although 17 of the team's final 20 games are against teams currently at .500 or better.

 Minnesota has the third-easiest remaining schedule in the majors, with its upcoming opponents combining for a .431 winning percentage. The Twins are an MLB-best 59-21 (.738) against teams currently under .500, compared to 29-34 (.460) against teams .500 or better, which ranks 13th in MLB.

 Since the All-Star break, Anthony Rendon is leading the majors in batting average (.382), while ranking second in MLB in OPS at 1.116 (Alex Bregman -- 1.132; min. 200 PA). Rendon's post-ASB OPS is on pace to be the highest in franchise history, as Vladimir Guerrero currently has the top spot with a 1.095 OPS in the second half of 2003 for the Expos (min. 200 PA).

 The Nationals have won five consecutive games against the Twins, their longest-active win streak against any American League opponent. Prior to winning five straight against the Twins, Washington had lost five games in a row against Minnesota from 2007-13.

Despite losing two out of three games at home over the weekend to the Cleveland Indians, the American League Central Division-leading Minnesota Twins aren't pushing the panic button heading into a challenging week that begins with a three-game home series with the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.
Minnesota still entered Monday's action with a comfortable 5 1/2-game lead over Cleveland with just 19 games remaining. Three of those, however, are against the Indians this  weekend in Cleveland. The Indians begin a three-game series on the road against the Los Angeles Angels later Monday night.
