 Los Angeles and Oakland meet for a three-game set, with the A's taking three of four in their latest series in late June. On June 30, Oakland scored 12 runs against the Angels, their most against a division opponent this season.

 The A's dropped two of three at Yankee Stadium over the weekend despite a team .369 on-base percentage. Oakland's hitters walked 20 times, their most in any series this season.

 The Angels lost two of three to the Red Sox and fell to 2-8 in their last 10 games. In Friday's game, LA struck out 20 times in 15 innings, their second-highest strikeout total in franchise history (26; July 9, 1971 vs. Oak).

 Over his last 50 games Khris Davis has just three home runs, the fewest in any 50-game stretch in his career. Davis is batting .191 at home this season and .259 on the road, and he is 3-for-37 (.081 average) in his last 10 home games with 16 strikeouts.

 Albert Pujols has three extra-base hits in his last two games and is slashing .300/.370/.444 since Aug. 1, including a .444 (12 for 27) average with RISP. Through July, Pujols was slashing .239/.297/.443 and was hitting .272 with RISP.

 Mike Fiers has made 20 consecutive starts without taking a loss, including his no-hitter on May 7. That 20-start streak without a loss is the longest in the majors this season and one shy of the franchise record (Lefty Grove, April 22-Aug. 19, 1931).

The A's have employed power and pitching to take the first two games of the series, using four home runs and 6 2/3 shutout innings from Tanner Roark as the driving forces in 7-5 and 4-0 victories.
