 This very streaky series has seen the Dodgers win 17 of 19 (August 14, 2015 through the 2017 season), the Reds take the next six games, and the Dodgers capture the last four, beginning with the last meeting in 2018. LAD allowed only four earned runs in sweeping three games from the Reds at LA in April.

 The Dodgers lead the NL in run differential with a plus-58 mark, topped by only Houston's plus-87 and Tampa Bay's plus-62. Dodger pitching has yielded only 18 runs in the team's last eight games, recording four shutouts -- the team's first four shutouts this season.

 The Reds have a 3.20 team ERA this month, on pace for the staff's lowest mark in a calendar month (minimum 15 games) since July 2014 (3.19). It would be Cincinnati's lowest ERA in the month of May since 1990, when the Reds had a 2.56 ERA in May, en route to their last World Series win.

 With his .401 batting average and 15 home runs, Cody Bellinger is the second player in the last 60 years to have an average of .400 of higher and 15-plus homers in his team's first 45 games. Manny Ramirez (.405, 15 homers) did it for Boston in 2001. Only one other NL player has done it: Chuck Klein, 1930 Phils.

 Eugenio Suarez has 10 doubles and 13 home runs this season; he is one of five National Leaguers to have reached double figures in both categories. Over his last 12 games, Suarez has a .380 average (19-for-50) with six homers, 15 RBI and a 1.276 OPS.

 The Reds lead the National League with a 3.32 staff ERA; they have not finished first in the NL in ERA since 1940. The Dodgers, who rank third in the NL with a 3.51 ERA in 2019, have led the league in this category 25 times since 1940, including both of the past two seasons.

Surging Reds set to host NL-best Dodgers

CINCINNATI (AP)  The Dodgers' potent offense got rolling right away, leaving Rich Hill a chance to get a win. The left-hander dominated with a throwback effort.
Hill fanned 10 batters - one shy of his career high - while relying on his two best pitches, and Cody Bellinger hit the last of Los Angeles' four homers Friday night for a 6-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds, the Dodgers' fourth in a row.
