 Minnesota is 1-13 at Yankee Stadium since 2015, including a loss in the 2017 Wild Card Game. Including the playoffs, the Twins' eight-game losing streak at Yankee Stadium is currently the longest in baseball other than a nine-game skid by the Cubs which dates back to 1932.

 The Twins are coming off a 6-1 homestand during which their pitching staff posted a 2.57 ERA and a 5.25 strikeout-to-walk ratio. On the road this season, however, they have the majors' third-worst ERA at 5.65 and the worst K/BB ratio at 1.56.

 The Yankees entered this week having won nine of 10 while averaging 6.8 runs per game, but they were held to a combined three runs while getting swept in a two-game set in Arizona. New York enters Friday looking to avoid being held under three runs in three straight games for the first time since August 2017.

 Marwin Gonzalez broke out of a 2-for-28 slump on Thursday with two hits, including just his fourth extra-base hit this season. He's on pace to finish with less than half his average of extra-base hits from the previous three seasons with Houston (47.7).

 Luke Voit has reached safely in 41 consecutive games going back to last season; the next-longest active streak in baseball is Mike Trout's run of 29 games. Voit is the first Yankee to reach base in the first 30 games of a season since Derek Jeter did so in the first 53 games in 1999.

 Eddie Rosario is 0-for-21 in his last six games, easily the longest drought of his career. That also matches the longest stretch of games he's gone this season without a home run. Rosario is a career .118 hitter at Yankee Stadium (4-for-34).

NEW YORK (AP)  For the New York Yankees so far this season, every ounce of pleasure comes with at least a little dose of pain.
Gary Sanchez homered twice and the Yankees overcame their latest injury Friday night, beating the Minnesota Twins 6-3 after starter James Paxton exited early with soreness in his left knee.
