Manny Machado signed a 10-year, $300 million contract with the Padres in February after a year in which he set or tied career highs in home runs (37), RBI (107), batting average (.297) and OPS (.905) with the Orioles and Dodgers. The 26 year old hit .391 in six games against the Giants last season (9-for-23).

SAN DIEGO (AP)  Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. have given the San Diego Padres a whole new dynamic.
Machado got his first two hits with San Diego and Tatis almost got his first big league home run, settling for his first double and first run as the Padres beat the San Francisco Giants 4-1 on Friday night.
