The Royals have gone 4-14 (.222) in interleague play this season, the worst record in MLB. The Reds own a 10-8 (.556) record in interleague play -- if the Reds win both games in this series to finish 12-8 against the AL, their .600 win percentage would tie the team's best ever single season mark (1997 and 2008).

Royals, Reds hoping to end dreadful seasons on positive note

CINCINNATI (AP)  Hunter Dozier's quiet night turned into a clutch, game-winning effort for the Kansas City Royals.
Dozier led off the ninth inning with a tie-breaking home run, then teamed with shortstop Adalberto Mondesi for a key out in the bottom of the inning as the Royals beat the slumping Cincinnati Reds 4-3 Tuesday night.
