 The Braves are 8-3 this season against the Marlins, averaging 6.82 runs with a .300/.376/.496 slash line. They've plated at least 10 runs in four of the contests, the first time they've reached double digits in four games against a single opponent in a single season since 2007, also against the Marlins (in 18 games).

 The Marlins are riding a season-high seven-game road losing streak and have dropped 11 of 14 in Atlanta since June 17, 2017. This marks their worst 14-game road stretch against the Braves since also going 3-11 from May 4, 2005-July 27, 2006.

 Nick Markakis is batting .290 the first time against a pitcher in a game but .427 the second time facing him. That improvement of .137 is the MLB best among qualifiers, and no player has hit better than .427 the second time facing a pitcher in a season since the Mets' Luis Castillo hit .431 in 2009 (min. 120 PAs).

 Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a two-run blast Sunday to give him four homers in his last five games and 15 on the season. Already with 16 doubles, the 20-year-old is the first Brave in the live-ball era with at least 15 homers and 15 doubles in his first 64 career games.

The Atlanta Braves are hopeful that newly acquired starter Kevin Gausman can continue to build on his last start. If so, the right-hander may be a key piece for the team's success as it heads down the stretch for the playoff drive

Seeing slugging rookie Ronald Acuna Jr., who had been on a home-run streak, hit by Jose Urena's first pitch led to two melees on the field and more unrest in the clubhouse.
