Tampa Bay dropped the third game of the series in Toronto on Sunday after winning the first two games of the weekend. That bodes poorly for the Rays entering Tuesday's matchup, as they've gone 23-34 (.404) after a loss this season, but 36-24 (.600) after a win.

The Yankees have won six of eight since getting swept at Fenway from August 2-5. The Yankees are 74-44 on the season, but trail the Red Sox by 10 games in the standings -- that's the largest deficit by a team 30+ games over .500 since the 2001 Athletics, and the fewest games into the season for such a deficit since 1906, when both the Giants (74-43-1) and Pirates (76-42) trailed the Cubs through 118 games.

The Yankees have won 12 straight home series against the Rays, the longest active streak in baseball. The Yankees haven't won 12+ consecutive home series against a single opponent since winning 17 straight against the Washington Senators (now Minnesota Twins) from June 1952 to May 1957.

Yankees third baseman Miguel Andujar is hitting .341 in 23 games since the All-Star break with six home runs, four doubles, and 19 RBI. Five of those home runs have come in August -- only his teammate Giancarlo Stanton has more this month among AL players.

The Rays' Willy Adames is hitting .405 (15-for-37) in the month of August, the fourth-highest mark in the American League (min. 40 PA). The rookie shortstop is in the midst of a six-game hitting streak where he has racked up multiple hits in four games, including each of the last three contests.

J.A. Happ is slated to make his third start with the Yankees to open the series on Tuesday after winning each of his first two. Happ has not gotten a win against the Rays since August 10, 2016, although he has posted a 2.79 ERA in his four starts since that date.
