The Indians enter this series having won three of four games, including an 8-1 victory yesterday against Detroit in which they recorded 16 hits. It was the 12th game this season in which Cleveland has notched at least 15 hits, tied with the Cubs for the most such games in 2018.

After a three-game sweep of the Blue Jays, the Twins lost three of four games at Boston, being outscored 18-9. The nine runs were the fewest scored in a four-game series by Minnesota this season.

Ervin Santana is 4-1 with a 1.28 ERA in 42.1 innings against the Indians over his last seven starts. Santana has not allowed a home run against the Tribe in his past eight starts, his longest streak of consecutive starts in his career against any team without allowing a home run.

Any chances the Twins have of making a surprise re-entry into the American League playoff race for a second straight year likely rest on sweeping the AL Central-leading Cleveland Indians, who visit Target Field for the opener of a three-game series Monday night.
