 The Blue Jays took two of three from the Twins from April 30-May 2, and are 50-22 against them since 2008. That .694 winning percentage in that span is easily their best against any AL club, with the next closest being .581 against the Rangers (50-36).

 The Twins were swept in Kansas City over the weekend, pushing their road losing streak to nine games. This is their longest road skid since an 11-gamer from August 18-September 12, 2016, which included three defeats in Toronto, where they're 2-8 since 2015.

 The Twins have the majors' second-highest ratio of homers hit against righties versus lefties at 4.50 (81 to 18), slightly behind the Mets at 4.82 (82 to 17). Leading this charge is Eddie Rosario (16 homers against righties, 3 against lefties), Brain Dozier (14 to 2) and Eduardo Escobar (12 to 2).

 The Blue Jays swept a three-game set from the Orioles over the weekend, improving to 15-6 in Toronto since June 7 -- the majors' third-best home record in that span. Over that same stretch, they're 5-11 on the road -- sixth-worst in baseball.

 The Jays face Twins lefty Adalberto Mejia in the series opener, and since June 1, Justin Smoak is batting .143 versus southpaws (6-for-42) to rank 106th out of 107 major leaguers with at least 45 plate appearances. Over the first two months, he was batting .333 (22-for-66) versus lefties.

 In Sunday's 5-4 win over the Orioles, Yangervis Solarte hit his 17th homer and also doubled after going 11 consecutive games without an extra-base hit. Among the 45 major leaguers with at least 17 homers, Solarte's .424 slugging percentage is the worst.

TORONTO -- Ervin Santana will make his first start of the season Wednesday afternoon when the Minnesota Twins try for a three-game sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Twins (46-53) have taken the first two games of the series after winning 5-0 on Tuesday night.

TORONTO (AP)  Swept in Kansas City during their first series following the All-Star break, the Minnesota Twins responded with a rare series sweep north of the border.
Max Kepler drove in the tiebreaking run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in a six-run 11th inning, and the Twins beat the Blue Jays 12-6 on Wednesday to complete their first sweep at Toronto in more than 15 years.
