 During the first three-game series these teams played, the Mets pitching staff posted a 2.33 ERA and held the Yankees to a .176 batting average. Both of these are their lowest marks against any opponent this season (three-game minimum).

 The Yankees have eight players with at least 25 extra-base hits thus far in 2018. They are one of seven teams all-time (including the 2018 Dodgers) with at least eight players reaching that total before the All-Star break.

NEW YORK -- Jacob deGrom said Friday that other things such as family matters keep him from turning on sports talk radio and reading stories about him possibly getting traded from the New York Mets.
Even if deGrom's focus is elsewhere off the field, it remains a possibility at some point, especially in the wake of comments made by agent Brodie van Wagenen, who said that if a contract extension is not in the cards, the Mets should trade deGrom.

The season finale between the New York Mets and New York Yankees was postponed because of rain Sunday night and will be made up on Aug. 13 at 7:05 p.m., previously an off day for both teams.
