The Padres have won four of seven meetings this season against the Giants, losing two of three in San Francisco April 30-May 2. San Diego has won 24 of the last 36 matchups between the NL West rivals after losing the previous nine.

San Diego dropped its only two home games in a three-week span with a pair of defeats to the Athletics, including Wednesday's 12-4 loss. The Padres have batted .188 and totaled seven runs during a four-game losing streak, matching their longest since opening this season 0-4.

The Giants will take a two-game winning streak and the Padres a four-game skid into the series, the third of the season between the National League West rivals. San Diego has won four of the first seven head-to-head games.
