The Baltimore Orioles start a six-game road trip after being swept at home by the Yankees and Nationals. In 2018, the O's are 7-23 (.233) on the road which is their fourth-worst mark through 30 road games of a season since the franchise relocated to Baltimore (Worst: 1988 - 5-25).

The New York Mets were swept in a four-game series with Chicago Cubs, extending their home losing streak to six games.  They have not lost seven or more in a row at home since May 2013 (8 straight). The Mets currently have the most players (11) on the DL.

Jason Vargas slowed down Atlanta's offense in his last start, allowing two hits and one walk (intentional) over five innings.  His career ERA against the Orioles (2.23) is the lowest among active pitchers who've thrown 60-plus innings against the O's.

These two clubs will meet for the first time since 2015. The Mets have won six straight at home against the Orioles, dating back to June 18, 2006 when Tom Glavine got the win. The Orioles (0-4) are one of two teams still winless in Interleague play this season (Rays 0-5).

Manny Machado homered in back-to-back games against the Yankees and has now homered in three of four. He has hit 26.5 percent (18/68) of his team's home runs, which is the highest mark in MLB.

Brandon Nimmo has the second-highest OBP (.421) in the NL among batters with at least 100 plate appearances (1st: Freddie Freeman - .424) thanks, in part, to having been hit by a pitch in eight of 159 plate appearances (5.0 percent). Only Chance Sisco (5.1 percent) and Francisco Cervelli (5.1 percent) have been plunked at a higher rate (100-plus PA).

NEW YORK -- After a rough weekend in which they committed plenty of self-inflicted mistakes against pennant contenders, the New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles will hope a brief interleague series against each other provides the cure -- or at least a temporary respite -- from what has been ailing them most of the season.
The Mets and Orioles begin a two-game set Tuesday night, when the skidding teams meet at Citi Field. New York left-hander Jason Vargas (2-3, 8.53 ERA) is scheduled to oppose Baltimore right-hander Alex Cobb (1-7, 6.80 ERA).

NEW YORK (AP)  This is what the Baltimore Orioles were counting on when they added Alex Cobb.
Cobb delivered his best performance since signing a rich contract late in spring training, helping the Orioles break a seven-game losing streak by beating the New York Mets 2-1 Tuesday night.
