The Tigers took two of three against Indians, but were shut out for the American League-leading sixth time this season in the final game of the series. Prior to that series, Detroit had lost 11 in a row against Cleveland.

The Mariners began their six-game homestand by splitting a pair of games against the Rangers, including a 5-1 loss on Wednesday. Seattle's 13-4 (.765) record after a loss is the best in baseball so far this season.

Over the past weekend, the Tigers took two of three against the Mariners in Detroit. Seattle, however, has beaten Detroit seven consecutive times at home for its longest active home winning streak against any opponent.

Matthew Boyd and Marco Gonzales will duel in a rematch of last Saturday's matchup in Detroit. The Tigers picked up a win in that game behind Boyd's quality start of six innings, three earned runs and six strikeouts. Gonzales also went six innings in that game, but surrendered four earned runs on 10 hits and two walks to go along with three strikeouts.

Yesterday, Kyle Seager scored his 20th run of the season to give the Mariners an MLB-leading six different players with 20 or more runs this season. Over his past five games, Seager has three doubles, two home runs, and seven RBI.

In 26 career games against Seattle, Nicholas Castellanos has a .302/.376/.500 slash line with five home runs and 18 RBI. Castellanos has a career .342 batting average at Safeco Filed, his highest at any American League park.

Leonys Martin would like nothing more than to see his name penciled into the lineup in center field and lead off against former teammate Felix Hernandez.
"Everything's going good," Martin, who's eligible to come off the 10-day disabled list Friday, told MLB.com. "That's the plan."
