The Mariners took two of three against the White Sox this week and ride a 4-2 road trip into Cleveland. Seattle is a perfect 13-0 when leading at the end of the sixth or later, one of four teams yet to lose this season; only Arizona (16-0) has more wins.

Cleveland split a two-game series at home against the Cubs this week in a rematch of the 2016 World Series, and has won four of its last five overall. The Indians have held opponents to three runs or fewer 17 times this season, third-most in MLB (Houston, 19; Boston, 18).

Seattle took two out of three over the Indians at home to open the season, with all three games decided by one run. The Mariners have not won multiple series against the Indians since 2014.

Mitch Haniger is 12-for-31 (.387) over his last eight games, including eight extra base hits (four doubles, four HR). He has a hit in all six of his career games against the Indians, and has homered in his last two games against them.

Jose Ramirez has notched a hit in his last five games and 12 of his last 13, logging six home runs over that span. His .400 average in that span (since April 9) is the best in the American League and third best in MLB (minimum 45 PA).

Mike Clevinger notched his first career complete-game shutout on Saturday in Baltimore, and is 2-0 with a 1.75 ERA in four starts this season. He has a 1.36 ERA since September 1 last year, third best in MLB in that span (minimum 50 IP), trailing only Justin Verlander (1.22) and teammate Corey Kluber (1.36).

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians, who lost a key pitcher Thursday, and the Seattle Mariners, who added a first baseman, will play the second of their four-game series at Progressive Field on Friday night.
On Thursday, Cleveland placed star reliever Andrew Miller on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. To replace Miller on the roster, the Indians selected the contract of left-hander Jeff Beliveau from Triple-A Columbus.

Kluber seeks to avenge opening loss to Mariners

CLEVELAND (AP)  Corey Kluber is tough to beat most nights. When his team hits five solo home runs, the task is even more difficult.
Kluber (4-1) struck out 10 in 8 2/3 innings and the Cleveland Indians used a power barrage, including three homers in the first inning, to defeat the Seattle Mariners 6-5 on Friday night.
