The Indians, who won two of three home games versus the Mariners in late April, are looking to win multiple series versus Seattle in a single season for the first time since 2012, when they won two of three series versus the Mariners. Cleveland is 22-7 versus the AL West this season, with wins in its last six such games.

The Indians swept the Angels at Angel Stadium earlier this week, their 15th sweep of the season (matching their total from 2016, and one shy of the Dodgers for most in MLB this season). Cleveland is now 27-1 in its last 28 games, tied with the 1884 Providence Grays and 1916 New York Giants for the most wins in a 28-game span all-time.

The Mariners have lost each of their last six games, their longest losing streak this season. Seattle has been swept in each of its last two series and in five series since August 10, tied with the Mets for most in MLB over that span.

Edwin Encarnacion has totaled 98 RBI and 101 walks on the season. If he can record two more RBI this season, he will join Jim Thome (six times), Travis Hafner (twice), Al Rosen and Andre Thornton as the only players in franchise history with 100 of each in a single season.

Trevor Bauer has won each of his last four road starts, posting a 2.13 ERA over 25.1 innings pitched. In three career road starts versus the Mariners, Bauer is 1-2 with a 2.57 ERA.

Erasmo Ramirez has posted a 1.93 ERA and .176 opponent batting average in three home starts since being traded to the Mariners in late July. However, the Mariners lost each of those three starts (though Ramirez never recorded the loss himself), as they've failed to score more than three runs in any of Ramirez's three home starts.

SEATTLE (AP)  At this point, there is not much Corey Kluber can do to strengthen his case for the American League Cy Young Award. Another win, another quality start, another 10 strikeouts has become what is expected from Cleveland's ace.
''He's the Cy Young. I think he's clearly the Cy Young,'' Indians teammate Jason Kipnis said. ''That doesn't take away anything from Chris Sale. I think he's clearly the No. 2 and would be the Cy Young in any other year Corey Kluber is not pitching like this. What he's done has just been efficient as you can be.''
