These clubs have split their past 14 meetings, with each team winning seven times. The parity comes immediately after a 12-game winning streak by Oakland versus Minnesota that was the longest by either team in the all-time series.

After dropping two of three contests at Houston this past weekend, the A's have slumped to 1-6 over their past seven games. While Oakland is 11-4 when limiting opponents to no more than six runs, the A's are 0-10 otherwise.

With back-to-back wins and four victories in their last five games, the Twins have moved back over .500 (12-11). Minnesota didn't reach 12 wins last season until May 25 (12-34).

Sonny Gray is expected to make his 2017 MLB debut on Tuesday after landing on the disabled list with a strained right shoulder this spring. Gray is coming off a disappointing 2016 season in which he went 5-11 with a 5.69 ERA, which followed a strong 2015 in which he went 14-7 with a 2.73 ERA.

With nine RBI over his two games versus Kansas City this weekend, Miguel Sano concluded April with 25 RBI, the third most by any Twin in the Minnesota era (since 1961). The only Twins with higher totals were Chris Colabello in 2014 (27) and Kirby Puckett in 1994 (26).

Ervin Santana has allowed no more than four hits and one run in each of his first five starts this season. He's the only pitcher with a streak that long at the beginning of any of the past 100 seasons.

But one road trip and two games at home has Minnesota looking again like it has put the consistent losing in the past.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)  The Oakland Athletics' slumping offense strung some hits together in a much-needed victory.
Seeing the A's offense have that much success was enough for the Minnesota Twins to send Kyle Gibson to the minors.
