The Cubs lost, 7-3, to the Marlins in Miami last night, dropping their second straight and losing for the sixth time in the last nine games overall. Chicago is just 7-17 when scoring three or fewer runs this season (20-7 in all other games).

Washington was blanked, 8-0, at home by Mark Buehrle the Blue Jays last night, dropping its second straight and losing for the fifth time in the last six games overall. The Nats have been shut out three times this year -- tied with the Reds for second fewest in the NL (Rockies -- 2).

The Nats took two of three from the Cubs at Wrigley Field last week, each team scoring three or fewer runs in each of those games. These clubs have split six contests at Nationals Park since the beginning of 2013.

Jake Arrieta got a no-decision vs. the Royals last Friday night (7.0 IP, 4 ER), and is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA in his last three outings overall. Arrieta has yet to win a game in six career starts vs. the Nationals (0-1, 5.81 ERA in those games).

Gio Gonzalez lasted just 5.1 innings and allowed four runs (all earned) last Saturday in Cincinnati, garnering a no-decision for the performance, and upping his ERA to 6.65 in his last four starts. Dating to August 16, 2014, the Nationals are 8-0 the last eight times Gonzalez has taken the hill at home.

Bryce Harper went 5-for-11 in the Nats' latest series against the Blue Jays, exiting Toronto hitting .333 on the season (tied for fourth best in the NL). Harper is one of three qualifying NL players who lead their teams in runs, home runs, batting average and RBI this year (Paul Goldschmidt and Justin Upton are the others).
