The Minnesota Twins went 70-92 last season, the club's fourth straight 90-loss season, which is tied with the Astros for the longest active streak. Minnesota scored 4.41 runs per game in 2014 after scoring 3.79 in 2013, the largest improvement in the AL.

Last season, the Detroit Tigers went 90-72 and won their fourth straight division title, the first AL team to do so since the Yankees won the AL East nine straight seasons from 1998-2006. The Tigers were then swept in the ALDS, the first time Detroit has made the playoffs but failed to win a postseason game since getting swept in the 1907 World Series.

After seven seasons with the Angels and Tigers, Torii Hunter is returning to Minnesota, where he played for 11 years.  Hunter has had 20+ doubles and 10+ home runs in each of the last 14 seasons, the longest active streak in the majors.
