Henderson dealing with back injury, aims to play in Tour Championship

Brooke Henderson announced Tuesday that she is currently dealing with an upper-back injury but still hopes to play in the LPGA's season-ending CME Group Tour Championship this week in Florida.

"After withdrawing from last week's event due to an injury in my upper back, it was recommended that I rest as much as possible coming into the week," Henderson said in a statement obtained by golf writer Adam Stanley. "While I plan to address any medical concerns and recover fully in the offseason, I am trying to do everything I can to compete this week."

Henderson, Canada's winningest professional golfer, enters the season's final event ranked No. 4 on the Race to CME Globe and No. 6 on the Rolex Women's Golf Rankings.

The 25-year-old recorded a 1-over 71 in the first round Friday at last week's Pelican Women's Championship before withdrawing from the tournament Saturday. The tournament was reduced to 54 holes and began a day late due to weather conditions.

So far in the 2022 season, Henderson has notched two victories to extend her Canadian record to 12 professional wins. Her second victory this year came at the Amundi Evian Championship. It was her second career major win and first since 2016.
