Ronaldo overtakes Hugo Sanchez for 3rd on La Liga's scoring list with 235th goal
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to creep up towards the top of La Liga's all-time scoring chart.
The Real Madrid attacker, 30, scored for the 235th time in the top flight of Spanish football on Saturday, netting Los Blancos' final goal in a 4-1 victory over Getafe.
While meaningless on the scoreboard, the marker was significant in that it saw the Portuguese scoring machine overtake league legend Hugo Sanchez for third on La Liga's goal ladder.
Cristiano Ronaldo scores his 235th La Liga goal, passing Hugo Sánchez for 3rd-most in league history (in 133 fewer games).

Ronaldo now trails only Telmo Zarra (251 goals) and his perennial nemesis Lionel Messi (290 goals, and counting). Second place is almost a guarantee, and could very well be achieved this season.
The all-time lead, however, will likely be one scoring record that Ronaldo simply cannot claim for himself.
