3 things we learned in La Liga this weekend: Real Madrid is far from unbeatable
With another weekend of La Liga action in the books, we take a look back at some of what we learned from the latest slate of matches.
The wealthy can be defeated by those who spend wisely

As writer Sid Lowe put it, Real Madrid was "a mess" by the time its players exited the pitch at Sevilla. A 3-2 defeat to the Andalusian club didn't feel like an accurate representation of what had transpired at Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, where Los Blancos suffered their first loss of the season.
Things started so well for Real Madrid, too. A bicycle kick from Sergio Ramos, who, it should not be forgotten, moved to the Santiago Bernabeu from Sevilla one decade ago at the age of 19, put Rafa Benitez's side ahead. However, it was clear that Ramos had injured himself by deploying the overhead kick, and he was replaced by Raphael Varane some 10 minutes later.
The turnaround will be attributed by many to Real Madrid's loss of Ramos, but doing so is a disservice to what Monchi, Sevilla's director of football, has done.
Monchi, renowned in Spain for spending wisely after earning his own €200 million in 15 years, is, as The Independent recently explained, "Mr. Moneyball taking on the wealthy by spending a lot less money, a lot more wisely."
Of course, Monchi doesn't have much of a choice in a league where the best of the best join one of Real Madrid and Barcelona. He admitted to crying after Ramos joined the former 10 years ago, saying: "It was the final day of the transfer window and Florentino (Perez) stumped up the fee to pay for Ramos' release clause. That was one of the night that I've cried as a director of football because of a feeling of impotence."
We can only imagine how Monchi felt when the final whistle sounded at Sevilla on Sunday, as it served as proof that no club is unbeatable simply because it boasts more money.
Neymar can score goals that will survive the test of time

Neymar has done more than fill the void after Lionel Messi tore the internal collateral ligament of his left knee. He has, more than any another time since joining Barcelona from Santos, shown that he can one day find his name among the likes of Brazilian greats, such as Pele, Garrincha, and Ronaldo.
If there were still, somehow, any ignorant doubts over his abilities entering the weekend, they were effectively ended in the 85th minute of Barcelona's 3-0 victory against Villarreal, when Neymar scored a goal that is among the most phenomenal of his career. And, thinking of the goals he has tallied over the years, that's saying something.
Teammates and haters couldn't help but express their admiration of the goal after the final whistle. Sergio Busquets said: "The Neymar goal was a work of art that only superstars like him can score."
Even Joey Barton is slowly starting to come around.

There will come a day where nobody remembers how Neymar stepped up in Messi's absence, but goals like this will be etched into the minds of supporters everywhere for decades.
David Moyes isn't a very good manager

It's been real, David Moyes.
If Real Sociedad's fixture at Las Palmas on Friday was Moyes' last chance at salvaging his future as manager of Sociedad, he may not have known. A 2-0 defeat in the Canary Islands, in which the club produced a pathetic showing, is reportedly the last straw for Jokin Aperribay, who allegedly met with Moyes on Sunday night to inform him that he is set to be sacked.

As Mikel Encinas, editor of Mundo Deportivo's coverage of the club, pointed out, the anger that stemmed from supporters and the Spanish media following the match was because of "the image presented by the team" rather than the result itself.
In other words, Sociedad didn't look like a club that is playing for its life, and Moyes is on the verge of being sacked for the second time in just over one year and a half.
