Twitter reacts as paperwork fiasco leaves De Gea's transfer to Real Madrid in limbo

An outrageous transfer-window oddity took the football world by storm Monday evening, as David De Gea's transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid - which looked for so long like a formality - was not completed because of a reported issue with the paperwork.

Given the magnitude of the two teams, the star power of the player involved, and the apparent - and almost unprecedented - ineptitude that caused the deal to fall through, all the ingredients were in place for Twitter to have an absolute field day.
