Real Madrid signing Mateo Kovacic: I'm at the biggest club in the world
New Real Madrid man Mateo Kovacic didn't have any hesitations about joining the "biggest club in the world."
After completing a €35-million move from Inter Milan, the 21-year-old was presented to media and fans on Wednesday.
"When they told me about Real's offer, you don't have any doubts. I am young, I have a lot to learn and I hope I can give the best of me," Kovacic told Spanish media.
"To be able to share the changing room with such great players, it's truly an honour. ... Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world, I have no doubt about it."
Kovacic spent two seasons with Inter and had four years left on his contract with the Italian club. But Inter boss Roberto Mancini acknowledged that the Croatian international was sold as a result of Financial Fair Play regulations.
He will now play in the Madrid midfield alongside countryman Luka Modric, who Kovacic regards as one of his idols.
"Luka has done a lot to get me here. I don’t have to talk about his qualities because everyone can see them, he’s a great player," Kovacic added.
Kovacic, who wore the No. 10 kit at Inter, will now sport the No. 16. He is the fifth signing of the summer for Los Blancos.
