Ronaldo rubbishes 'false' transfer rumours: 'I am very happy at the best club in the world'
Cristiano Ronaldo is more than content at Real Madrid, so stop trying to convince us otherwise. That's the message from the Portuguese megastar, who broke a longstanding media silence to dispel speculation that he is displeased with the state of affairs at the Spanish club.
"I would sincerely like the false reports to stop and to be left a little in peace," Ronaldo told Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola, as quoted by the Guardian.
"Reports that I have sought to create conflicts between myself and Real Madrid are absolutely false. I am very happy at the best club in the world and very focused and confident of a new season full of successes."
Ronaldo, whose goalscoring exploits went in vain this season as Los Blancos came away without a single piece of silverware, had not spoken to the media since Real Madrid's Champions League loss to Schalke in March.
Apparently, he felt it was time to set the record straight.
