Report: Chelsea, Manchester City have held talks about signing Alex Song
Alex Song's qualification as a home-grown player is reportedly triggering interest from a pair of Premier League clubs.
According to Sky Sports, both Chelsea F.C. and Manchester City are tracking Song and have held talks with FC Barcelona, who paid £15 million for the player in 2012 and are believed to be looking for a transfer fee of roughly £5 million from potential suitors.
Song spent the 2014-15 season at West Ham United on a season-long loan, notching three assists through 30 Premier League appearances. West Ham are allegedly interested in turning heir loan agreement into a permanent transfer, but interest from some of the Premier League's giants surely doesn't bode well for their chances of retaining him.
Two years remain on Song's contract.
