Joao Cancelo joins Valencia on permanent deal through 2021
A successful loan spell at the Mestalla Stadium was rewarded Monday, as Joao Cancelo joined Valencia CF on a permanent deal that will keep him at the club until 2021.
Cancelo, 20, spent last season on loan at Valencia from S.L. Benfica, making 10 La Liga appearances for the club in which he proved his worth on the right flank.
In conversation with Valencia's official website, the Portuguese defender said he was "very happy to continue at Valencia CF, whom I hope to help for a long time to come. I will always carry Benfica in my heart, but now my biggest dream is to continue giving my best for Valencia CF, growing with the team and repaying the great confidence that the club have shown in me."
Having also signed teenage left-back Jose Gaya to a five-year contract earlier this month, Valencia are poised to have one of the most promising full-back duos in La Liga entering next season.
