Cristiano Ronaldo wins Pichichi, sets personal record for goals in a season
Real Madrid will finish the season bereft of silverware, but, at least from a personal perspective, Cristiano Ronaldo will have reason to showcase his million-dollar smile.
Sixty-one reasons, actually.
The Portuguese scoring machine, unperturbed by the meaningless nature of Saturday's season finale against Getafe, recorded yet another hat trick in the match - which Real Madrid would go on to win 7-3.
His three goals, all scored in the opening half, brought Ronaldo to 61 in all competitions this season, one better than his previous career-high of 60 in 2012.
In addition, his league tally of 48 was good enough to claim the Pichichi award as La Liga's top scorer, eclipsing perennial rival Lionel Messi and his 43 markers.
48 - @Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 48 goals in La Liga this season, his best tally in a single campaign for @realmadriden. Tireless.

Since moving to the Spanish capital in 2009, the 30-year-old has done nothing but find the net at historic rates that have never been seen before in La Liga.
And yet, this was his most prolific season yet. Age barrier? What's that?
- 2009/10: 26 goals
- 2010/11: 40 goals
- 2011/12: 46 goals
- 2012/13: 34 goals
- 2013/14: 31 goals
1 - @Cristiano is the 1st Real Madrid player to have finished as La Liga top-scorer in two consecutive seasons since Hugo Sánchez. Ace.

Ronaldo scored 48 goals in just 35 league matches this season. Sit down and think about that for a second ... you should probably pick up your jaw from the floor at some point.
