Thomas Vermaelen makes debut in Barcelona's squad
Nine months have passed since Thomas Vermaelen joined Barcelona for £15 million, yet he hasn't taken the pitch for the Catalan club due to a hamstring injury that required surgery.
That could all change on Wednesday, however, as the Belgian defender was included in Barcelona's squad for the first leg of their Champions League tie versus Bayern Munich. His inclusion marks the first time he's been included in Luis Enrique's squad since arriving at the Camp Nou.
Vermaelen was given the medical all-clear in the final days of April, and while it's unlikely that he gets much playing time as Barcelona are in the midst of a title race in La Liga and the semifinals of the Champions League, supporters will surely be happy to see some return value on their club's investment at long last.
